I have three male Welsh Harlequins, and they are not getting along. They all want their own ladies, and we don't have enough space for them all and the number of females they would need, so we need to give two of them away for them all to be happy. The two we are looking to rehome are Huey and Louie(Real creative I know) and they are VERY different.
Louie is incredibly chill, and is perfectly content to hang around with others and eat all day. He is a tad overweight, but he's loosing a lot of weight now that it's spring and he gets to run around a bit more without the snow. He would be a perfect duck for someone who doesn't have a lot of space but wants to be able to have fertilized eggs as I could see him being gentle with one or two females. He hasn't shown any aggression towards his siblings despite them all being male(Huey and Dewey fight occasionally) and would probably be able to get along with another drake if you want to introduce another drake to an expanding flock. I also know he has good egg production genetics as all three ducks came from a small farm that primarily produced eggs.
Huey is far more energetic and would probably do very well as a free range duck. He has cleared a three-foot fence on multiple occasions(We now have covers for the pen) and he has plenty of energy. He is a very good swimmer and is very good at catching bugs. He really likes moths for some reason. He's also very protective of his friends, and will try and bite anything he considers a threat, which for some reason includes garden hoses. Fortunately, he has no teeth to puncture them. He would definitely do best as an only drake as he is the most aggressive of the three.
If you did want both that would be AMAZING, Huey has discovered(the hard way) not to mess with Louie as that results in getting sat on by a very large duck, so his brother is probably the only way he could live with another drake unfortunately. If you don't have any ladies for the men, that's ok! I've had three drakes for almost a year(pandemic ducks) and the only reason I'm trying to rehome Huey and Louie is because Huey and Dewey have been at odds recently and I don't want them to hurt each other.
If you are interesting in either drake, please email me and we can figure out how we're going to get them to you! I hope you think these boys are as unique as I do!
